4.9. GENERAL.
Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) are those scheduled procedures, which are
essential to the efficient operation of the equipment. PMCS prevent possible damage that might
occur through neglect or failure to observe warning symptoms on time. Ensure all noted
discrepancies are corrected.

a. Column (1) - Item Number (Item No.).
This column contains a number for each procedure to be performed. When reporting malfunctions
or failures on DA Form 2404, [Equipment Inspection and Maintenance Worksheet, or DA Form
5988E enter this number in the "TM Item No." column (refer to DA PAM 738-750)].
