TIER 1 FUNCTIONAL INSPECTION

Check coolant, fuel and oil levels

Check panel lights and dead crank switch

Start and Operate the set

Check engine meters; water temp, oil pressure,
battery charging ammeter, etc

Check fuel level gauge
Listen for abnormal sounds or knocks

Observe exhaust for abnormal smoke

Inspect for fluid leaks

Apply 100% load. On the 5 & 10 KW, repeat
100% load and meter checks for all three output
voltage connections.

Check electrical meters, all meter switch
positions; voltage, percent power, percent
current, frequency, etc.

Check voltage and frequency adjust switches

Observe Generator set for unusual noises

Verify operation of engine battery charging
alternator by measuring DC voltage

Verify/test operation of convenience receptacle
(for all three output voltage connections on 5 &
10 kW generator sets).

Check protective device: high temperature shut
down

Check protective device: low fuel shut down

Check protective device: low oil pressure shut
down

Check protective device: battle short
19
Check auxiliary fuel pumps for proper operation
20
Perform Quality Power Test. As applicable,
verify proper operation of the Power Unit Switch
Box.

Check for caked dust and oil sludge in valve
cover gallery or oil pan
