Connect negative battery cable and close battery access door.
Removal.
Shut down generator set.
Open battery access door and disconnect negative battery cable.
Open engine access doors.
Remove fan guards, paragraph 2-78-2.
Loosen alternator mounting bolt (1, FIGURE 2-25) and nut (2).
Pivot alternator to relieve tension on fan belt (6), and remove belt from alternator pulley (3), fan pulley (4), and
crankshaft pulley (5).
Slip belt (6) over fan (34, FIGURE 2-23) and remove belt from generator set.
Slip fan belt (6, FIGURE 2-25) over fan (34, FIGURE 2-23).
Install belt (6, FIGURE 2-25) onto alternator pulley (3), fan pulley (4), and crankshaft pulley (5).
Adjust tension on fan belt (6), paragraph 2-84-2.
Install fan guards, paragraph 2-78-3.
Close engine access doors.
Connect negative battery cable and dose battery access door.
Installation.

COOLANT RECOVERY SYSTEM.
2-85-1 Inspection.
a. Shut down generator set.
b. Open right side engine access doors.
c. Inspect coolant recovery system components for cracks, holes, or other damage.
d. Close tight side engine access doors.
2-85-2 Removal.
a. Shut down generator set.
b. Open right side engine access doors
Coolant can get very hot. Allow system to cool down before performing maintenance.
Failure to follow these instructions could result in severe burns and injuries.

Loosen clamp (24, FIGURE 2-24) and disconnect hose (25) from overflow bottle (28) and drain coolant into suit-
able container.
d. Loosen clamp (26) and disconnect hose (27) from overflow bottle (28).
e.
Remove overflow bottle (28) from wire holder (33).
