Open battery access door and disconnect negative battery cable.
Open engine access doors.
Remove fan guards, paragraph 2-78-2.
Remove bolts (14, FIGURE 2-23), washers (16), and Iockwashers (15) and allow shroud (17) to rest on fan (34).
Remove bolts (32), Iockwashers (33), fan (34), spacer (35), and shroud (17) from generator set.
Remove nuts (36), screws (37), stiffeners (38) and (39), supports (40) and (41), and seals (42) from each side
of shroud (17).
Inspection.
Shut down generator set.
Remove cooling fan, paragraph 2-83-1.
Inspect fan (34, FIGURE 2-23) and blades for cracks, bends, loose rivets, or other damage.
Inspect seals (42), supports (40) and (41), and stiffeners (38) and (39) for damage.
Replace damaged parts.
Install cooling fan, paragraph 2-83-3.
Install seals (42, FIGURE 2-23), supports (40) and (41), and stiffeners (38) and (39) on each side of shroud (17)
with screws (37) and nuts (36).
Position fan (34), spacer (35), and shroud (17) in generator set and secure with bolts (32) and Iockwashers (33).
Torque bolts (32) to 24 ft-lbs (32.5 Nm).
Install fan shroud (17) with bolts (14), Iockwashers (15), and washers (1 6).
Install fan guards, paragraph 2-78-3.
Close engine access doors.
Connect negative battery cable and dose battery access door.

Inspection.
Shut down generator set.
Open battery access door and disconnect negative battery cable.
Open engine access doors.
Inspect fan belt (6, FIGURE 2-25) for frays, cracks, oil soaking, and other damage.
Replace fan belt that shows any of above or cannot be adjusted for proper tension.
Close engine access doors.
Connect negative battery cable and close battery access door.
Test and Adjustment.
