Removal.
Shut down generator set.
Open engine access doors.
Remove generator set top housing section, paragraph 2-16-1.
WARNING
Coolant can get very hot. Allow system to cool down before performing maintenance.
Failure to follow these instructions could result in severe burns and injuries.
WARNING
Always remove radiator cap slowly to permit pressure to escape. Failure to follow this
warning could result in severe injury.
Slowly remove radiator cap (1, FIGURE 2-23).
Remove fan guards, paragraph 2-78-2.
Open radiator drain valve (28) and drain coolant/antifreeze into suitable container.
Remove radiator filler hose and panel assembly, paragraph 2-77-1.
Remove upper coolant hose, paragraph 2-79-1.
Remove lower coolant hose, paragraph 2-80-1.
Remove bolts (14), Iockwashers (15), and flatwashers (16) and allow shroud (17) to rest on fan.
Remove nuts (18), Iockwashers (19), bolts (20), and washers (21) securing support rods (22) to bracket on en-
gine.
Remove bolts (23), Iockwashers (24), support rods (22), and spacers (25) from radiator (31).
Loosen clamp (26) and disconnect radiator drain hose (27) from radiator drain valve (28).
Remove nuts (29) and lockwashers (30) from radiator mounting points.
Lift radiator (31) up and out of generator set housing.
Remove radiator drain valve (28) from radiator (31).
Inspection and Cleaning
Shut down generator set.
Remove radiator, paragraph 2-82-1.
Inspect radiator for excessive corrosion, cracks, or bent cooling fins.
Check inside of radiator for corrosion and scale.
