Inspect front housing panel (17, FIGURE 2-8) for dents, cracks, loose paint, and corrosion.

Repair.
WARNING
Wear a protective mask and gloves when sanding CARC painted surfaces. CARC
paint dust is a health hazard and could cause personal injury if warning is not
followed.
Repair all dents and cracks, and remove all loose paint.
Remove light corrosion with fine grit abrasive paper (Item 15, Appendix C).
Repaint surface in accordance with TM 43-0139. (F) Refer to applicable directives.
Installation.
Install front housing panel (17, FIGURE 2-8) on generator set with bolts (13), washers (14), lockwashers (15),
and nuts (16).
Install bolts (9 and 10), Iockwashers (11), and washers (12).
Connect negative battery cable and close access door,

Removal.
Shut down generator set.
Open left side engine access door and disconnect negative battery cable.
Remove top housing panel, paragraph 2-17.1.
Remove bolts (18, FIGURE 2-8), lockwashers (19), and washers (20).
Remove bolts (21), nuts (22), and deflectors (23), (24), and (25).
Remove bolts (2, FIGURE 2-20), washers (3), and fan guards (4).
Remove front housing panel, paragraph 2-18.1.
Remove auxiliary fuel pump, paragraph 2-84.3.
Remove fuel tank filler neck, paragraph 2-81.1.
Remove fuel transfer pump, paragraph 2-65.3.
Remove radiator, paragraph 2-70.1.
Remove bolts (26, FIGURE 2-8), nuts (27), Iockwashers (28), washers (29), front lifting ring brackets (30), and
lifting rings (31) from generator set.
Remove screws (18, FIGURE 2-21), nuts (19), and float switch module (20).
Remove bolts (32, FIGURE 2-8), Iockwashers (33), washers (34), and filler neck panel (35) from air deflector
(55).
Remove bolts (36) and fuel tank holddown brackets (37).
Remove bolts (39), nuts (40), and channel (41) from front housing (49) and air deflector (55).
Disconnect and cap fuel supply and fuel return lines at fuel tank fittings (16 and 32, FIGURE 2-21).
Tag and disconnect electrical leads at fuel level sender (4) and fuel float module (20).
Remove door sills, paragraph 2-19.5.
Remove bolts (42, FIGURE 2-8), nuts (43), and door stops (44) from front housing (49).
