20-6. Operation
Operate
the
generator
set
as
instructed

TM 5-6115-332-12. Use fuel from the trailer mounted
fuel tank. When refueling tank, operate the engine with
fuel from the 5-gallon can until sediment has had a
chance to settle in the fuel tank. Use the fuel transfer
valve to perform fuel transfer operations.
Section III. OPERATOR'S MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
Operator's maintenance of the power unit is concerned
with keeping the generator sets lubricated; the fuel tank
filled; the battery electrolyte level maintained; and
cleaning and servicing the fuel filter and air cleaner filters
as described in TM 5-6115-332-12. Removal of dust
and dirt from the equipment is also a routine
maintenance function of the operator.
Section IV. ORGANIZATIONAL MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
20-7. Fuel System Components
(Fig. 20-4)
a.
General. The fuel system consists of the fuel
tank mounted on the right-rear bed of the trailer; the fuel
filters located inside the fuel tank; the auxiliary 5-gallon
fuel tanks; and the hoses and fittings to provide fuel to
the gasoline engines. A fuel strainer in the filler neck is
removable for cleaning. The fuel level gage is located
on the top of the tank.
b.
Fuel Filter Replacement
(1)
Remove screws and washers that secure
gage base to fuel tank and remove gage assembly and
gasket.
(2)
Remove nuts and bolts securing filters to
tube base.
(3)
Install new filters on assembly and secure
with bolts and nuts.
(4)
Using new gasket install gage assembly
and secure with screws and washers.
c.
Gage Replacement
(1)
Remove screws that secure gage to
assembly and remove gage from tank. Remove gasket.
(2)
Using a serviceable gage assembly and a
new gasket, reinstall gage and secure with screws.
20-8. Fuel Tank
(Fig. 20-4)
a.
Removal
(1)
Remove drain plug and drain fuel from
tank.
(2)
Remove fuel gage assembly (para 20-7).
(3)
Remove screws and washers that secure
filler neck to tank and remove filler neck and gasket.
(4)
Remove nuts, washers, and capscrews
that secure and stancion and brace for curb-side
antenna bracket.
(5)
Lift end stancion and bracket slightly and
slide fuel tank to the rear and off trailer bed.
(6)
Purge and clean fuel tank in accordance
with TB ORD 1031.
b.
Installation. Installation is reverse procedure of
removal. Install new fuel filters before reinstalling gage
assembly. Clean fuel filler screen before reinstalling fuel
filler neck.

Removal
(1)
Remove load from rack assembly.
(2)
Remove nuts, washers, and capscrews
that secure rack to trailer bed and remove rack.
b.
Disassembly
(1)
Remove nuts, washers, and capscrews
that secure clamp to rear stancion. Remove clamp.
(2)
Remove nuts, washers, and capscrews
that secure roller supports to the rack. Remove rollers.
(3)
Knock out rivets and remove nylon
