WARNING
Disconnect negative battery cable from right battery and the positive
battery cable from the left battery before doing the following
procedures. Failure to observe this warning could result in severe
personal injury or death.
NOTE
If rope heater is good, check thermostat for proper operation. If
thermostat is defective, see paragraph 4-23.
INSPECTION
After performing removal step (3), visually inspect rope heater for severe burns, cracks or broken wires.
TEST
Using a multimeter or ohm meter, check wire rope for continuity.
REMOVAL
1.
Disconnect engine air breather clamp (8), Figure 4-32, from air breather hose (1).
2.
Slide insulation (4) off air breather hose (1).
3.
Remove foil tape (3) from air breather hose (1).
4.
Disconnect rope heater (2) from TB-7 Pins 9 and 10. Remove rope heater (2) from air breather hose (1).
REPLACEMENT
1.
Perform steps 1 thru 4 of removal.
2.
Perform steps 1 thru 6 of installation, substituting new breather tube heater assembly for the defective one.
