Fuel Gage Replacement.
(1)
Remove tank b above.
(2)
Remove screws and washers that secure
gage (22, Fig. 22-7) to gage mount (18) and remove
gage.
(3)
Using serviceable gasket, install gage on
gage mount and secure with screws and washers.
(4)
Reinstall
tank
by
reversing
removal
procedure b above.
d.
Cleaning and Inspection.
(1)
Remove tank b above, and remove fuel
gage.
(2)
Clean all parts with solvent and flush out
dirt and foreign particles from inside the tank.
(3)
Inspect tank for dents, rust, cracks, and
other damage. Inspect straps for defects and damaged
or missing hardware. Inspect fuel gage for damage and
proper operation.
(4)
Replace defective or missing parts as
necessary.
(5)
Reinstall
tank
by
reversing
removal
procedure b above.
22-8. Tarpaulin and Roof Bows
a.
Removal.
(1)
Remove tarpaulin from unit.
(2)
Pull out chain-secured pins that secure
roof bows to trailer and remove bows.
b.
Cleaning and Inspection.
(1)
Clean tarpaulin with water and detergent.
Clean roof bows with solvent dampened cloth. Dry
thoroughly.
(2)
Inspect tarpaulin for tears, holes, missing
or broken ropes and straps, and other defects. Inspect
bows for bends, dents, and warped condition.
c.
Installation. Installation is reverse of procedure
a above. Be sure tarpaulin is treated for waterproofing
and mildew resistance before reinstalling.
22-9. Trailer Leg Prop
a.
Removal. Remove nuts (4, Fig. 22-6), washers
(3), and capscrews (2) that secure leg prop (1) to trailer
chassis.
b.
Cleaning and Inspection. Clean leg prop with
cloth dampened in solvent and dry thoroughly. Inspect
leg prop and base for bends, ease of adjustment, and
secure attachment of base plate.
c.
Installation. Installation is reverse of removal
procedure a above. If trailer is to be moved, attach leg
to holder beneath trailer and pin in place.
22-10. Holders, Supports, and Brackets
Replacement of the holders, supports, and brackets is
accomplished by removing attaching hardware and
installing serviceable components.
22-11. Reels and Reel Supports
(fig. 22-11)
a.
Removal.
(1)
Remove cotter pin (75), nut (74), and
washer (73) and remove reel (5).
(2)
Drive out roll pin (72) and remove collar
(71) and spindle (70) from reel mount shaft.
(3)
Remove capscrew (66) and washers (67
and 68) and remove shaft from reel mount.
(4)
Remove cotter pins and remove reel
mount from reel support.
(5)
Remove nuts, washers, and capscrews
that secure reel support to trailer body and remove
support.
b.
Installation. Installation is reverse of removal.
Put a small amount of GAA on the shaft before
reinstalling the spindle (70).

Disconnect fuel lines at fuel transfer valve.
