Preparation Before Starting.
(1)
Remove tarpaulin and roof bows.
(2)
Unload equipment from racks.
(3)
Unscrew
thumbscrews
that
secure
roadside rack to trailer body and remove rack.
(4)
Remove generator set covers.
(5)
Remove engine oil pan plug and install
drain line with shut-off cock. Turn the shut-off cock so
that oil will not drain out. Refer to LO 2808-203-14 and
put the proper amount of engine oil in the engine.
(6)
Install the engine spark plugs. Torque to
23 - 25 ft. lbs.
(7)
Install the generator set ground cables to
the sets and to the ground stud under the distribution
box.
(8)
Assemble the 3 piece ground rod and
install it or ground the trailer as directed in c below.
(9)
Attach the fuel hose to the two- way valve
and to the fuel line connector on the trailer floor
(fig. 22-3). If fuel is to be supplied from a 55-gallon
drum, attach the 25-foot hose to the drum and to the 2-
way valve. The generator set gasoline tank under the
set should be used for emergency operation only. Fill
the trailer fuel tank. A gage is provided on the top of the
tank to indicate the fuel level in the tank.
