SECTION VIII. MAINTENANCE OF DC ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
2-10 INTRODUCTION.
This section contains unit maintenance procedures for the DC electrical system. Deficiencies noted during inspectioti
repair which are beyond the scope of unit maintenance shall be reported to the next higher maintenance level.
NOTE
Refer to TM 9-6115-642-10 for operating procedures.
NOTE
Once removed, replace all Iockwashers.

WARNING
Batteries give off flammable gas. Do not smoke or use open flame when perform-
ing maintenance. Flames and expiosion couLd result in severe personal injury or
death.
WARNING
Remove metal jewelry when working on electrical system/components. Failure
to observe this warning could result in severe personal injury or death by electro-
cution.
NOTE
This procedure is typical for the positive, negative, and interconnect battery cables, and
the positive and negative NATO SLAVE RECEPTACLE cables.
Shut down generator set.
Open engine access doors.
Inspect battery/slave receptacle cables for security, cracked insulation, broken, burned or corroded terminais,
missing parts, or other damage.
Close access doors.
Removal.
Shut down generator set.
Open battery access doors.
NOTE
Tag all cables before removal.

Disconnect negative battery cable terminal (1, FIGURE 2-3) from battery.
d. Disconnect and remove applicable cable assembly as shown in FIGURE 2-3 or FIGURE 2-4.
