The coolant system operates at high temperatures. Personal injury or death from
burns or scaldlng could result from high pressure steam.
Testing.
Shut down generator set.
Install coolant pressure tester in radiator neck.
Pump pressure tester to indicate 7 psi, check for leaks and ensure radiator cap releases.
Release pressure on coolant pressure tester and remove from radiator neck.
Service.
Shut down generator set.
Open right side engine access door.
Flush or drain coolant system in accordance with Preventative Cleaning procedures contained in TM 750-254.
Close right side engine access door.

Shut down generator set.
Open engine access doors.
Remove top housing panel, paragraph 2-17-1.
Remove front housing air deflectors, paragraph 2-19-1, steps d and e.
Coolant can get very hot. Allow system to cool down before performing malnte-
nance. Failure to follow these instructions could result In severe burns and inju-
ries.
Always remove radiator cap slowly to permit pressure to escape. Failure to ob-
serve this warning could result in severe personal injury.
Remove radiator cap (1, Figure 2-20).
Remove bolts (2), washers (3), and fan guards (4).
Remove bolts (5), washers (6), nuts (7), and caution plate (8).
Open radiator drain valve (9) and drain coolant into suitable container.
Disconnect drain hose (10) and overflow hose (11) at radiator (12).
Loosen hose clamps (19) and remove upper coolant hose (20).
