3-14. Tarpaulin, Roof Bows, and Leg Prop
a.
Removal. Remove the tarpaulin, bows, and leg
prop (para. 3-11).
b.
Repair.
(1)
Patch or sew rips and tears in the
tarpaulin. Replace damaged or missing straps and
ropes. Replace a tarpaulin that is too badly damaged to
be repaired.
(2)
Weld minor cracks and breaks in the bows
or leg prop. Straighten bows where possible. Replace
defective or missing hardware. Replace bows or leg
prop that are damaged beyond repair.
c.
Installation. Install tarpaulin, bows, and leg prop
(para 3-11).
3-15. Trailer Bed
a.
Removal.
(1)
Remove the tarpaulin, roof bows, and leg
prop (para 3-11).
(2)
Remove the transfer switch from trailer
(para 3-12).
(3)
Remove the generator sets (para 3-13).
(4)
Loosen straps and remove auxiliary fuel
cans from trailer.
(5)
Remove 8 bolts from the top surface of
the trailer bed and 12 bolts from the underside that
secure the gussets to the trailer.
(6)
Disconnect the electrical leads from the
trailer lights and remove the trailer bed from the trailer.
b.
Cleaning, Inspection and Repair.
(1)
Clean bed with approved cleaning solvent.
Dry thoroughly.
(2)
Inspect for broken welds, bends and
dents, and any damage that prevents proper assembly
of the unit. Weld cracks and breaks and straighten
dents or bends where possible. Replace a trailer bed
that is damaged beyond repair.
c.
Installation.
(1)
Install trailer bed on trailer and secure with
12 bolts on the underside and 8 bolts on the top.
Connect wiring to lights.
(2)
Install the generator sets (para 3-13).
(3)
Install the transfer switch (para 3-12).
(4)
Install the auxiliary fuel cans and secure
with straps.
(5)
Install leg prop, roof bows, and tarpaulin
(para 3-11).
