Section II. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
21-3. Setting-Up Instructions
a. Leveling.
(1)
Locate the trailer on as level a surface as
possible for the generators to operate efficiently.
(2)
Set hand brakes and block wheels
securely to prevent any movement. Operate hand brake
at weekly intervals to insure freedom of movement.
(3)
Lower leg prop and adjust length for firm
contact with ground.
WARNING
Wheels must be blocked, brakes set,
and leg prop down in support
position before attempting to roll up
tarpaulin and before starting to
assemble or set-up equipment for
operation.
b.
Preparation for Starting.
(1)
Remove canvas tarpaulin, roof bows, and
splash shield.
(2)
Remove all loose auxiliary items that
might block flow of air through the trailer and around the
generator sets.
CAUTION
It is of utmost importance that there
be free circulation of air around the
generator sets at all times.
(3)
Remove the pipe plugs from the engine oil
drains and install the drain hoses as illustrated on figures
21-1 and 21-2. Be sure the drain cocks are closed.
(4)
Install the engine exhausts as illustrated in
figures 21-1 and 21-2.
(5)
Install
the
engine
spark
plugs
as
described in TM 5-2805-259-14.
(6)
Connect the electrical leads from the
distribution box to the generator sets as illustrated on
figure 21-3.
