INSPECTION
Inspection is limited to visual inspection of components. Check for cuts, air leaks, and crushed hoses.
REMOVAL
WARNING
Muffler and flex hoses get hot. Allow them to cool before touching them, to avoid burn injury.
1.
Loosen screw clamp (1), Figure 4-26, to remove air inlet hose (2) from heater (3).
2.
Loosen screw clamp (4) to remove air exhaust hose (5) from heater exhaust port (13).
3.
Remove nut (6), lock washer (7), flat washer (8), and screw (9), and clamp (10) from fan guard (11).
4.
Remove sealant from around air exhaust hose (5) at hole through fan shroud (12).
5.
Remove thermal sleeving from exhaust hose (5) and retain.
REPLACEMENT
1.
Perform steps 1 thru 5 of removal.
2.
Perform steps 1 thru 6 of install, substituting new air inlet and exhaust hose for the defective one.
INSTALLATION
1.
Reinstall thermal sleeving on exhaust hose (5).
Attach air exhaust hose (5) through hole in fan shroud (12), and slightly bend end of exhaust hose (5), 90 to the

3.
Attach air exhaust hose (5) to heater exhaust port (13) with screw clamp (4) and brace.
4. Attach exhaust clamp (10) to air exhaust hose (5) and attach to fan guard (11) using screw (9), flat washer (8), lock
washer (7) and nut (6).
5.
Put sealant around air exhaust hose (5) at hole in fan shroud (12) and fill in completely.
6.
Attach air inlet hose (2) to heater (3) with screw clamp (1).
