5.11. RADIATOR CAP.

Equipment Conditions
MASTER ON-OFF switch set to OFF.
Radiator cap removed (para 3.7.).
Materials/Parts
Radiator Cap
TEST
a. Connect radiator tester (2, Figure 5-5) to radiator cap (1).
b. Apply a pressure of 13 psi (89.63 kPa) and measure the time for pressure to fall to 9 psi (62.05
kPa).
c. If time is less than 10 seconds, replace radiator cap (1) (para 3.7.).

WARNING
Hot coolant is under pressure. Do not remove
radiator cap when engine is hot. Allow engine to
cool completely before removing radiator cap.
Once cooling has occurred, loosen cap slightly to
relieve any excess pressure before removing the
cap. Failure to observe this warning could result in
burns or injury to personnel.
