WARNING
Make sure generator set circuit breakers are in OFF position before performing
any repairs on switch box. Failure to observe this precaution may result in
injury or death by electrocution.
a. Switch Replacement. (See figure 5-8.)
NOTE
Replacement switch will have unmarked terminals and will have to be
compared with original switch.
(1) Removal.
(a) Remove 16 screws (1, figure 5-8),16 Iockwashers (2) and 16 flat washers (3)
securing cover (4) to switch box (5) and take cover, with switch (6) attached, off switch
box.
NOTE
Make sure identification bands on wires are legible before disconnecting
wires from switch.
Tag switch terminals and all unmarked wires. Replace-
ment switch will have unmarked terminals and will have to be compared with
original switch.
(b) Disconnect all wires from switch (6) by removing one screw (7), one nut (8) and one
star washer (9) from each switch terminal.
(c) Remove screw (10) securing knob (11) to switch (6) and take off knob.
(d) Remove four screws (12), four nuts (13), eight flat washers (14) and preformed
packing (15) securing switch (6) to cover (4) and take switch off cover.
(2) Installation.

Position switch (6) on inside of cover (4). Insert four screws (12) with one flat washer
(14) and one preformed packing (15) each through cover and switch standoffs.
Install one flat washer (14) and one nut (13) on each screw (12) and tighten.
Position knob (11) on switch (6) and install screw (10).
NOTE
Observe identification bands on wires when reconnecting wires.
Connect indicator light wires to switch (paragraph 4-25, b.(2)).
Connect power cables to switch (paragraph 4-25, d.(2)).
Connect load terminal wires to switch (paragraph 4-25, c.(2)).
Position cover (4) on switch box (5) and secure with 16 screws (1), 16 Iockwashers
(2) and 16 flat washers (3).
