OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Section I. OPERATING PROCEDURES
2-1. Operating Procedures. Before the power unit generator can be turned on and operated, the
power unit must be towed to a worksite and installed. installation instructions are provided in
paragraph 4-2. instructions for dismantling the power unit for movement are given in paragraph 4-3.
Detailed prestarting, startup, operating and shutdown procedures for the generator set can be found
on the Operating instructions data plate located inside the right hand control cubicle door at the rear
of the power unit, and in the generator set technical manual, TM 5-6115-464-12.

Do not operate generator set until it is properly grounded (paragraph 4-2, b.)
Serious injury or death by electrocution can result from operating an
ungrounded generator set.
Operating noise level of generator set can cause hearing damage. Ear
protectors, as recommended by medical or safety officer, must be worn when
working near power unit.
Section Il. OPERATION OF AUXILIARY EQUIPMENT
2-2. Operation of Auxiliary Equipment. There is no auxiliary equipment supplied with the power unit.
Section Ill. OPERATION UNDER UNUSUAL CONDITIONS
2-3. Operation Under Unusual Conditions. When operating the power unit under unusual conditions
such as extremes in temperature or difficult terrain, there are steps that must be taken to protect the
e q u i p m e n t .
a. Refer to TM 5-6115-464-12 for special procedures when operating the generator set under
unusual
conditions.
b. Refer to TM 9-2330-205-14&P for special procedures when operating the trailer under unusual
c o n d i t i o n s .
