and damaged or missing hardware. Inspect fuel gage
for damage and proper operation.
(3)
Replace defective or missing parts as
necessary.
d.
Installation.
(1)
Install the fuel gage in the tank and secure
with 6 screws and washers.
(2)
Secure the 2 retaining straps to the front
brace with the 2 nuts, spacers, and washers.
(3)
Place the tank under the trailer and
connect the engine fuel line. Use a jack or other means
to lift the tank and hold it in position while the retaining
straps are being installed.
(4)
Secure the 2 straps to the rear brace with
2 nuts, spacers, and washers.
(5)
Connect the breather line to the fuel tank.
(6)
Install the hose between the tank and filler
neck and secure with the 2 clamps.
(7)
Connect the fuel gage ground wire.
(8)
Fill fuel tank.
Section V. DIRECT AND GENERAL SUPPORT AND DEPOT
MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
17-12. Generator Set
a.
Removal. Refer to figure 17-5 as a guide and
perform the following steps:
(1)
Disconnect fuel lines.
(2)
Disconnect electrical leads and load
cable.
(3)
Disconnect oil drain adapter.
(4)
Remove 2 bolts and nuts that secure
muffler pipe to trailer.
(5)
Remove the 4 bolts that secure the
generator set to the trailer and remove the generator set.
b.
Installation. Use figure 17-5 as a guide and
perform the following steps:
(1)
Secure the generator set to the trailer bed
with 4 bolts.
(2)
Secure the muffler pipe to trailer bed with
2 bolts and 2 nuts.
(3)
Connect the oil drain adapter.
(4)
Connect the electrical leads and cable.
(5)
Connect fuel lines.
17-13. Tarpaulin, Roof Bows, Racks, and Leg Prop
a.
Removal. Remove tarpaulin, bows, racks, and
leg prop (para 17-10).
b.
Repair.
(1)
Patch or sew rips and tears in the
tarpaulin. Replace damaged or missing straps or ropes.
Replace a tarpaulin that is too badly damaged to be
repaired.
(2)
Weld minor cracks or breaks in the bows
or leg prop. Straighten bent bows where possible.
Replace defective or missing pins and hardware.
Replace bows, racks, or leg prop that are damaged
beyond repair.
c.
Installation. Install racks, roof bows, leg prop,
and tarpaulin (para 17-10).
