17-7. General
The PU-375B/G is equipped with an under-slung fuel
tank mounted under the trailer. The fuel filler neck
contains the fuel strainer which must be serviced by the
operator.
17-8. Fuel Tank Cap and Strainer Assembly
a.
Removal. Remove fuel tank cap and pull out the
strainer assembly with the chain.
b.
Cleaning and Inspection.
(1)
Clean metal parts with approved cleaning
solvent and dry thoroughly.
(2)
Inspect cap and strainer for damage and
defects. Inspect strainer screen for holes and gasket for
deterioration.
(3)
Replace a defective fuel tank cap, gasket,
or strainer.
c.
Installation. Place strainer assembly in filler
neck and install cap.

17-9. Ground Wires and Terminal Stud
a.
Removal. Refer to figure 17-3 and disconnect
ground wires, remove clamp and ground terminal stud.
b.
Installation. Refer to figure 17-3 and install
ground terminal stud, connect ground wires, and install
clamp.
17-10. Tarpaulin, Roof Bows, Racks, and Leg Prop
a.
Removal.
(1)
Remove tarpaulin from unit.
(2)
Remove the roof bows and racks as
shown in figure 17-2.
(3)
Remove the hardware that secures the leg
prop to the rear underside of the trailer bed and remove
leg prop.
b.
Cleaning and Inspection.
(1)
Clean tarpaulin, bows, and racks with
water and detergent. Clean leg prop with approved
cleaning solvent. Dry thoroughly.
(2)
Inspect tarpaulin for tears, holes, broken
or missing ropes and straps, and other defects. Inspect
bows, racks, and leg prop for cracks, bends, missing
pins, and other defects.
c.
Installation.
(1)
Mount the leg prop to the underside of the
trailer bed and secure with mounting hardware.
(2)
Install the racks and roof bows as shown
in figure 17-2.
(3)
Install tarpaulin and secure in desired
position.
17-11. Fuel Tank and Gage Assembly
a.
General. The fuel tank on PU-375B/G is
mounted on the underside of the trailer bed, held in
place by 2 metal straps that are secured to cross braces
welded to the trailer. The fuel gage is mounted on top of
the tank.
b.
Removal.
(1)
Drain fuel tank.
(2)
Disconnect either end of the ground wire
that connects to the fuel gage.
(3)
Remove the 2 hose clamps and remove
the hose that connects the filler neck to the tank.
(4)
Disconnect the breather line from the fuel
tank.
(5)
Remove the 2 nuts, 2 spacers, and
washers that secure the 2 retaining straps to the rear
tank brace. When straps are loose at rear, the tank will
drop down.
(6)
Disconnect fuel line from top of tank and
remove tank.
(7)
Remove 2 nuts, spacers, and washers
that secure retaining straps to the front brace and
remove the straps.
(8)
Remove the 6 screws and washers that
secure the fuel gage to the tank and lift out gage.
c.
Cleaning and Inspection.
(1)
Clean all parts with approved cleaning
solvent and flush out any dirt and foreign particles from
inside the tank.
(2)
Inspect tank for dents, rust, cracks, and
other damage. Inspect straps for defects
