Ground Wires and Terminal Stud
a.
Removal. Remove the ground wires from the
ground terminal stud and generator set as shown in
figure 16-3.
b.
Installation. Install the ground terminal stud and
ground wires as shown in figure 16-3.
16-8.
Tarpaulin, Roof Bows, and Leg Prop
a.
Removal.
(1)
Remove the tarpaulin from the unit.
(2)
Pull out the pins that secure the roof bows
to the trailer bed and remove the bows.
(3)
Remove the hardware that secures the leg
prop to the rear underside of the trailer bed and remove
the leg prop.
b.
Cleaning and Inspection.
(1)
Clean tarpaulin and bows with water and
detergent. Clean leg prop with approved cleaning
solvent. Dry thoroughly.
(2)
Inspect tarpaulin for tears, holes, broken
or missing ropes and straps, and other defects. Inspect
bows and leg prop for cracks, bends, and other defects.
c.
Installation.
(1)
Mount the leg prop to the underside of the
trailer bed and secure with mounting hardware.
(2)
Install the roof bows in the trailer bed and
secure with pins. Install the tarpaulin and secure in
desired position.

Stowage Racks and Brackets and Straps
a.
General. PU-304C/MPQ-4 is equipped with
stowage racks and brackets for the Radar Equipment.
Location of these brackets is shown in figure 16-3.
b.
Removal. Remove the mounting hardware that
secures the racks and brackets to the trailer bed and
remove racks and brackets.
c.
Cleaning, Inspection, and Repair.
(1)
Clean with approved cleaning solvent and
dry thoroughly.
(2)
Inspect for breaks, bends, dents and
missing or defective hardware. Inspect straps for wear
and other damage.
(3)
Straighten minor bends, replace defective
straps and missing hardware, and replace a defective
bracket that cannot be made serviceable.
d.
Installation. Secure the stowage racks and
brackets to the trailer bed with mounting hardware.

Generator Set
a.
Removal. Refer to figure 16-6 as a guide and
perform the following steps:
(1)
Disconnect fuel lines.
(2)
Disconnect electrical leads and load
cable.
(3)
Disconnect oil drain adapter.
(4)
Remove 2 bolts and nuts from muffler pipe
and remove pipe from trailer.
(5)
Remove the four bolts that secure the
generator set to the trailer and remove the generator set.
b.
Installation. Use figure 16-6 as a guide and
perform the following steps:
(1)
Secure the generator set to the trailer bed
with 4 bolts.
(2)
Secure muffler pipe to trailer bed with 2
bolts and 2 nuts.
(3)
Connect the oil drain adapter.
(4)
Connect the electrical leads and cable.
(5)
Connect fuel lines.

a.
Removal. Remove tarpaulin, bows, and leg
prop (para 16-8).
b.
Repair.
(1)
Patch or sew rips and tears in the
tarpaulin. Replace damaged or missing straps or ropes.
Replace a tarpaulin that is too badly damaged to be
repaired.
