WARNING
The coolant in the system shall contain the proper mixture of water and
antifreeze to prevent coolant from freezing or slushing. Failure could
cause engine damage and/or personal injury.

Add coolant to proper level.
36.
Connect positive and negative battery cables.
37.
Start and run engine until the radiator thermostat has opened.
38.
Start the heater coolant pump by connecting a jumper from positive power to pin A6 of the A2 control unit. This will
start the coolant pump only. Continue until pitch sound changes.
39.
Top off coolant.
40.
Disconnect positive lead from pin A6 of the A2 control unit.
41.
Double check all hose connections for leaks.
42.
With engine running, start heater. Check the heater indicator light (6), Figure 5-8, per the heater function codes plate
(3) for heater operation.
43.
Turn off the engine. Heater will continue to run until the coolant reaches operating temperature, at which time the
heater will cycle to low heat.
44.
Turn heater off.
NOTE
The water pump and combustion air blower will continue to run for
approximately 3 minutes.
45.
Locate identification plate (2), Figure 5-8, below existing plates on left side of front housing. Match and drill holes in
housing and install four rivets.
