WARNING
Disconnect negative battery cable from right battery and the positive
battery cable from the left battery before doing the following
procedures. Failure to observe this warning could result in severe
personal injury or death.
TEST
1.
Disconnect negative battery terminal.
2.
Remove caps (5), Figure 4-28, from igniter/glow plug (4) and resistor (1).

3.
Disconnect wires from igniter/glow plug (4) and resistor (1).
4.
Check continuity between igniter/glow plug (4) and ground and the resistor (1) and ground.
REPLACEMENT
1.
Disconnect negative battery cable.
2.
Remove caps (5) with cable (3) from igniter/glow plug (4) and resistor (1). Loosen hex nuts (2) on
igniter/glow plug (4) and resistor (1).
3.
Unscrew igniter/glow plug (4) and resistor (1) and remove them. Use an angled hook to clean the igniter/glow plug
hole and resistor hole.
4.
Install igniter/glow plug (4) in igniter/glow plug hole and resistor (1) in resistor hole.
5.
Tighten hex nuts (2), and install caps (5) with cable (3).
6.
Reconnect negative battery cable.
